Well, jsut did the critique for my first piece of art for my Computer Illustration class here at the local college. It didn't really go well. The mounting sucked, and my description REALLY sucked. Apparently I didn't have enough emotion for my piece.

Anyway, once I get a hold of it again, I'll try to upload it here.

Getting distracted by free MMOs and movies. Watched Repo, loved it. Playing Sword of the New World. Drawing very little.

Ok, as you all know (and by "you all" I mean the three people that actuially read this Journal), I amd being more or less required to do more "fine art" as opposed to the usuial anime stuff. By Fine Art I mean Still Life drawings (ZOMG FRUIT INA BOWL!!1!) and Figure Studies (Drawin' nekkid peoples). Now, Figure studies I have no issue with. Helps me with anatomy and whatnot.

Still Life is another story.

I hate hate HATE it. If it were a person I would kill them with fire, dance on their smoldering corpse, then piss and deficate on them before running them over with a steam roller.

So, now that that is over with, here's WHY I hate still life.

1. No creativity. Oh sure, you can be creative with what you use to draw it with and what you draw, but other than that, you're more or less taking a picture of something with pencil and paper. Grab a camera, it's quicker.
2. Mind numbing. This is just a IMO. I can't hardly begin to start drawing something just sitting in front of me unless I'm going to do more with it. Like that raccoon pic I put up a while back. I drew that skull from one that I have here in my room, then I added shit. THAT is what I can do without wanting to kill myself. Leaving it unmodified, not so much.
3. Painful. Now, when I'm drawing something from my head, I don't really worry about perfection. So the anatomy is a little off, so the shading isn't quite right, big whoop. With Still Life, everything I draw has to be PERFECT or it's a POS. Oh, the shading isn't right. *Scraps* Oh, the texture and the folds on taht piece of cloth are off. *Starts over*

So yeah, that's my rant and stuff.

So now, about what I've been drawing, as I've been trying to draw every day. I'm in a bit of a fantasy slump at the moment. Since the Elf pic, I've drawn two almost full fantasy pics (One of the OEB from WoW and another of Cthulhu) and a handful of sketches (and a bad Drill Sarge pic). Showed them to my brother, and here's more or less what he said.

"It's good, but you need to stop drawing fantasy shit."

Something like that. Truthfully I was a bit....hurt. Unless someone asks me to draw something specific, I draw what I want because I want to draw it. And then, I wanted to draw fantasy stuff, and my brother more or less called it shit. Though he did try to reword it shortly after when i gave him an annoyed scowl

But yeah, must force myself to draw still life to appease College people and parents....

Fuuuuuuck........

Well, on wednesday, I had my college readmittance interview. The short of it is that I honestly don't think they'll let me back in right now.

Long version is this: I had to send in some of my work to show that I've been doing stuff to better myself over these past 9-10 months. Thing is is that I should have sent in some 2D art, which I learned about DURING the interview. See, the school, not so good with the helping people with the application process. They said show your work, I thought they only wanted to see 3D stuff, as I'm in Computer Animation. So, in a bit of a panic, I emailed one of the people a link to this gallery in hopes that I could possably salvage the application.

Anyway, they suggested that, should I get in, I audit like 10 of my classes. Apparently my work is not up to par with where I am in the course. *Shrugs* Personally I think it's a good idea, but then that's like 6 months of living expenses, so taht sort of balances out the good/bad of the idea I think.

For now, I'm waiting for a reply from the school. Hopefully they reply soon, 'cause if I get in, then I have to be downa t the school on June. That means I'll need to find a room mate, an apartment, get all the paperwok done for said apartment, get my stuff packed, move down there, get my stuff out of storage, move in, and be registered in a little less than a month.

*Sigh*

Ok, not yet, but soon.
*Checks date* As of typing this, I got 7 days until I turn 21. Yay me
So I thought to myself "Hey self, why not update that dusty old journal?" "Great idea self, it certianly beats listening to the Foo Fighters and surfing 4Chan all night."

So, as you can see, I did. Yay.

So anyway, art has been slow. Not a lot of insperation to be honest. At least when the Dorms was running at top speed there were shenanigans to be had that I could draw up, but since it got rebuilt, everything's been sort of slow >.<

So yeah, if anyone that reads this has suggestions for drawing stuff, then I suppose I'll take suggestions or something

Also, since I be a greedy, egotistical bugger, I hope to recieve some B-Day art of some sort on the 12th
*Isn't holding his breath but is hopeful* Or a simply Happy Birthday wish would be good ^_^
And hopefully I can get that "The Gospal of the Flying Spaghetti Monster" that I've been eyeing
